I literally could spend all day with this boy..

This is during the babies nap time. They literally sleep on top of each other. There are so many cribs full like this. Its kinda sad but they learn to sleep through anything!

This is in the toddler house (the orphanage for the older kids). We were going to kiss them all goodnight and kinda started a riot. They have so much fun though!

E-man TOOK MORE STEPS TODAY!!!!!! ok so it is official- i have completely fallen in love with him. He was feeling much better today and we just laughed the whole time. He literally belly laughs. and then, we were working on walking and he is getting so so good! but i was sooo excited for him! He is already 2 years old, so he is way behind, but today was so so great!!! I feel like a mom, i have told everyone..

MM is having a hard time so please pray for him. He is so aware of everything that is going on around him and sometimes gets really scared. He has a bad burn/scar on the top of his head, and when he gets scared he holds it.. its kinda weird but please be praying for him.

I can't believe I have already been here a week. God is good! I'll try and post some pictures tonight :)

Praise the Lord for the other volunteers here. They are all so awesome. We have so much fun together!

Love yall!

it was great to be back witht he kids again today. Today i took G on a walk, and i bought her a cookie from a market, and she held onto it and did not take a single bite, and i did not get it.. She walked the whole way backto the orphanage, carrying this dang cookie, and even when i was changing her back to her regular clothes she would not let it go or eat it. I took her back to her room with theother kids to pick up my next kid, and watched her break the cookie up, and hand it out to the other kids in the orphanage. She took a bite and gace the rest of it away. It was seriously amazing. I guess in these conditions these babies learn to share. I loved witnessing that.

E-man, my happy one, was sick today. Pray he gets better soon.

Tomorrow 2 of the volunteers are leaving. Riley and Danielle. I am super bumbed about it. Me and Riley took our kids on a walk today and it was good time with her. I wish they did not have to leave but I am excited for the new ones to come!

Kim comes in1 week!!!!!! I AM SO SO SO EXCITED!!

oh so little scare last night- this is a little personal, but out toliet at our house we have to manually flush by taking a bucket of water and dumping it into the toilet making it flush, and you can only flush if its poo, not pee, so anyways i went to the bathroom and i dumped the water in it and it just filled up the toilet and didnot flush. So i did it again (which was dumb) and it just filled up more.. anyways lets just say i am a pro at toilets now but i finally got it to go down. I really REALLY miss a flushing toilet.

Keep praying for these kids. I love yall and thank yall for the prayers, i would not be able to make it here with out yall.

BEcca

ps- my hands are cracking i sanitize them so much.. and i stepped in baby poop this morning.. LOVE IT!! :)

HIKINg!!!

This is at the waterfall!! (i bet you were picturing something bigger) but it was BEAUTIFUL. Looking back away from the waterfall was just green mountains. It was so so fun.

This is me and alecia on the way to the waterfall. It was BEAUTIFUL. This girl is freaking awesome too.

best hike ever!

Today was awesome!! It was our day off, so we woke up and went to church, which here that means going to someones house, having worship, and a preacher giving a message. It was really cool and the house was beautiful with a great view. We then went to the main house (the orphanage) and had lunch and got to give our kids kisses, and then since it was our day off, us girl workers (there are 6 of us) went on the most beautiful hike i have ever been on, We hiked to a waterfall. It was SO SO SO beautiful and lets just say we got to know eachother a little better. ha it was soo fun and we laughed so much and had great conversations and swam and played in the most beautiful scene I have ever seen. It was also cool because on the walk there we got to meet cool people who were washing themselves and their clothes in the streams from the waterfall. It was such a great day off. We had a blas and it was so so so beautiful. Then we came back here, showered, and got to go to the grocery store. We came back, ate dinner, went to kiss the older kids goodnight, (they are really good at puckering their lips) and now we are just about to watch a movie! Tomorrow we start the 8 to 5 with our babies again, and i can't wait because I miss them!!! Today was a great day off and a great rest time!

Thanks for the prayers of healing! I feel much much better. I think i got everything out of my system. Continue to pray for these kids here. I saw a mom drop off her baby yesterday, and that was hard to watch. It is just such a different place here. I am glad I am here, but some of the things are hard to see. I love yall, and thank yall so much for the prayers!

well i definitely hit a low point last night. I got sick and threw up till 5 am. yep really fun. So today I am taking the day off and watching movies/sleeping. I feel a lot better, but i woke up with a fever and just feel really achy and stuff. This is the normal "haiti sickness" so just please pray i get over it soon.

"Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your mind on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died and your life is not hidden with Christ in God." -Colossians 3:1-3
This is on the first floor of the orphanage where we can relax and sometimes take our babies.
This is where we eat all out meals.  Yes we get coke and sprite for every dinner.  We have big family dinners for every meal.

The babies sleep like rocks. its crazy

Ok so let me just try and explain what happened last night.. After i took my "army style" shower, and i chilling in the TV room with some girls, and i hear Jamie, a volunteer here (shes awesome) saying "OH MY GOSH COME LOOK AT THIS!!!" She was being sooo dramatic, but would not stop, so we all walked into the room, and there was a freaking spider the size of a CD. Literally is was huge. Like if it were a tarantula it would have been BETTER. It was the biggest spiderI have ever seen. And the best past was, it was not only in our house, it was in the room we are sleeping in and about 6 inches from my bed. Yes i had a great time trying to sleep last night...
ANYWAYS, we got a good laugh out of it.
Also last night me, Jamie and Riley decided to get a little work out in, and we were jump roping and doing lunges, and the older girls at the orphanage (the oldest is 14) thought it was SO funny, and came down and started running and doing lunges with us. It was sooo funny. They were all in their pj's and looked so so cute, but i kinda think they were making fun of us...

This morning we had prayer time with eachother. It was really good, and we went to a house and they made muffins for us. This morning with my babies was really good too. G baby, the sad one, had a GREAT morning. I gave her a bath and she was really hesitant at first and wanted me to get in with her, so i stuck my feet in and she finally had a great time and laughed a lot! it kinda made me emotional. K-man had a great morning too. He stayed close to me, but would let me put him down and he would walk for a second and come back but thats great progress. E-man is still trying to learn how to walk.. He is really behind but is learning fast.

Continue to pray for these babies!! There one baby here names Sabrina and she is in the ICU with hydrocephilis. Her head is about 2 times the normal size, and they are trying to clear her to get to the states to have surgery. PLEASE keep her in your prayers. She is going to be a miricale baby. Pray that doctors pass her so they can get her the surgery she needs.

Love yall!!!!! (I get fun of SO much for saying yall, and apparently i have an accent...)

This boy stayed in this dang car for an hour. he BELLY laughed the entire time!
If you look closley, this girl has on a lovely tu-tu.  she would not take it off.  Her parents (yes she has a family who is about a year from getting her!!) sent it to her and she LOVES it!

This is my boy.. love love love him
This is me and my good walker going on a walk. All of us volunteers went walking and if you see her dress, its nice and clean, but i bought her some tampiko (juice) and she spilt it all over herself. ha she cracked me up!
today was great! I had mush for lunch, and i actually liked it. I was shocked. Everyone was like this is so good, and i thought they were joking but it was great! For dinner we had grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, fruit, and bread. It was really good too!

Its very lond days, but it helps a lot because the girls i am here with are hilarious, so we have so much fun together.

My kids were great today. I went on a walk, gave a few baths and i think i pushed a kid in this same car for an hour, but he was belly laughing the whole time so i did not want to stop.

Please pray for one of my boys M-man. He is really sad and nervous all the time. I also think he had a fever today, so please pray for him to get healthy and to be filled with joy.

I will try to post more pictures tonight!!

This is me and one of my precious boys. He would scream when he was not being held, which is hard because we are trying to learn to walk. I am going to try and give him a bath today, and see if he will sit through it. He is so so so cute and cuddley!

This is me giving a baby a bubble bath. He LOVED every second of it and he stayed in it for like 45 minutes. (if u cant tell we cant post names with pictures)

This is a room in the orphanage. There are a ton of babies. There are actually 90 babies at this house. When u walk into a room like that they all start crawling on you because they want to be held, so when we grab one we take him/her out of the room so the others kinda forget we were in there

I bet if i had this boy in a room by him self he would not stop laughing. He is so funny, and laughs so much!! This is also the one who peed on me.. he got a little excited on that plane, but i still think he is perfect!

This is me and my girl on a walk. We walk them outside the orphanage and she had a great time. The locals are also very nice but we are sure to go in groups

FIRST DAY!!

I LOVE IT HERE!!! its great!!

ok so i have to nickname my kids- so just pray for these names because the Lord knows!!

Ok so i got assigned 8 babies to have for an hour each. E-man, my first one, is 1 and a half, anmd he just smiles all the time. he is soo precious.

Then i got a girl named G baby, and she just tunred 2. She is a little sad, which it is the weirdest thing to see a sad baby. She is precious though and just wants to be held and cuddled. I took her on a walk outside the orphanage with other volunteers and their babies and she walked about 10 steps then made me carry her the rest of the way but i loved it. We walked to a random juice stand and got the babies juice, and some for ourselves and it was so good! Then we gave our left overs to kids who stand outside our orphanage. I love this girl, she already stole my heart.

I then had a girl names G. She is 3 and is very independent. I put her in a bubble bath the whole hour and she loved every minute of it. She is so sweet and mature.

I then had K-man. He also stole my heart. I just wanted to be loved on, and he would just lay his head on me, and when I would put him down he would scream, so we just chilled in the hammock the whole time.

I them had m-man,and then myrd. They are both boys under 2. They are so so cute. I love them all! I did not get to meet my last girl because she was sleeping all afternoon. But it was a great first day!

TOday they had a birthday party for all the kids birthdays in June. It was really cute! they all really loved the cake!

The food here is great. Tnoight for dinner wr are getting pizza cow zones, one of my favorite from t-bar-m :). The girls I work with are awesome and we have a great time. Tonigth we have bible study then will go back to the toddler hour (different then the orphanage) and just watch a movie and rest up for tomorrow.

I have never seen an orphanage before, but it is full of laughter and happiness. These kids lives are so different than our and they have nothing, but they smile and love everyone.

Please pray for my kids, some are sick but about half of mine have familes coming to adpot them within the year!!!

I love yall, and I will hopefully be able to post some pictures tonight or tomorrow.

Becca

I also got peed on and poop on my hand, but its still great!!

i got assigned 8 babies. They are precious. I start with them tomorrow. Tonight for dinner we got spaghetti, and it was really good! My babies are mostly 2. Most of them just turned 2. I cant wait for tomorrow. The girls I am working with are freaking awesome. We are really going to click.

hi - It's Becca's mom. Becca arrived safely in Haiti and met up with the driver that was taking her up to GLA. There was a couple riding with her that was going up to adopt a baby. She sounded great & said the driver was nice and spoke good English. Just thought some of you would want to know she arrived safe. Thank God!!! He is good!
Hopefully Becca will be able to update this occasionally - we will just have to wait & see.
Keep Becca & GLA in your prayers!
